Meet The Team

  • David Banks

    Born in Massachusetts, raised in Cumberland Maine, David grew up with an interest in Real Estate. David began his career at Shaw’s Supermarkets where he worked for 20 years, 15 in a corporate position, and the last 8 in their Real Estate Development Division as a Real Estate Analyst.

    In 1994 David opened RE/MAX By The Bay and has grown his company to over 50 agents. The office has been consistently Ranked #1 in Sales Volume in Cumberland County and the State of Maine. David is very proud to announce that RE/MAX By The Bay was just Ranked #1 RE/MAX office in New England 2010 out of 225 offices!

    David has been married to his wife, Donna, for 33 years. They have raised their 3 grown children in Falmouth and have been very involved in the community including Falmouth Land Trusts, Falmouth Educational Foundation, sponsors numerous sport leagues, Friends of the Civic Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Children’s Miracle Network and the Center for Grieving Children.

    David prides himself on providing unsurpassed customer services and uses the “team” approach to listing and selling real estate. David’s team can handle all of your real estate needs.

  • Peter Blake

    Before entering into the Real Estate industry in Maine Peter spent time building custom homes on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts constructing projects from frame to finish. This background in building has been invaluable to Peter in helping buyers and sellers see the value of quality construction and what adds or detracts value in a home or property. Peter joined RE/MAX By The Bay as a Sales Agent in 2006 and after 3 years of working for himself he joined the David Banks Team in the fall of 2009.

    Peter currently lives in and is a lifelong resident of Cape Elizabeth. He graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1999 and received his BA from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. He has been involved with the Chewonki Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, and enjoys spending time playing in various soccer and lacrosse leagues and fishing whenever possible.

  • Melodie Brown

    Melodie grew up in the Greater Portland area and has spent most of her adult life involved in the real estate field. Before joining the David Banks Team she was a real estate paralegal, real estate broker in Greater Boston and the Owner/General Manager of one of Maine's leading Mortgage Companies. She and her husband, Bruce, reside in Falmouth and on Little Sebago with their two cats.

  • Karen Moynihan

    Karen, a Connecticut native, began working for a Portland builder in 1973. She obtained her Brokers License in 1976 selling residential, multi family and waterfront properties within the Portland area. She joined Re/Max By The Bay as a charter member in 1995. Karen has also obtained her Realtor license in Florida and enjoys the challenges of the South western Florida market during selected winter months. She loves David’s team atmosphere and enjoys meeting the multifaceted client needs of his customers.

  • Betsy Twombly

    Betsy was born Portland and raised/currently lives in Falmouth, Maine.  She worked at a major department store for 22 years in various positions including Operations and Human Resources, providing HR support for 4 stores with 600 employees in Maine and New Hampshire.  Most recently, she was employed as a Human Resource Coordinator providing HR support within the business unit to the COO with a dotted line reporting to the Director of HR in Edison, NJ.  In that role, Betsy, was instrumental in getting her company awarded the 2008 Best Places to Work in Maine!

    Betsy has been involved in The Junior League of Portland since 2000, involved in community projects such as Kids in the Kitchen, working with kids at Pride's Corner Elementary School, and educating them on Healthy Eating Choices. In 2009, she co-chaired the Junior Leagues annual Freeze out Hunger auction, which raised awareness and money to help those in need with food insecurity in the greater Portland area.  As a result, Betsy was the recipient of the Hope P. Bramhall award for 2008-2009, Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.  She is also the Chair of The Woodlands Club HR committee.

    Betsy is married with two daughters who keep her on the go in her free time with travel Soccer, Skiing and Sailing regattas throughout New England.

  • Jessica Vamvakias

    Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jessica moved to Maine in 1990 with her husband, who was originally from Falmouth. Prior to joining RE/MAX By The Bay, she worked for 8 years developing the Villas at The Woodlands Condominiums where Jessica was responsible for client relations and customer service. She worked closely with clients in selecting finishing details for their home and was responsible for ensuring that each villa stayed on schedule and within the projected budget.

    Jessica has served on the Board of Directors for the Victoria Mansion in Portland and has chaired The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital’s Annual Auction and Golf Tournament for the past five years. Her diverse background in real estate contributes to her skill as the Team’s Coordinator and David Banks Personal Assistant.

  • Kessler Horty

    Kessler comes from a family-line passionate about architecture and real estate. He grew up in Camden, Maine, and after graduating from Ithaca College, Kessler decided to steer his own career towards real estate. He moved to Southern California and became a licensed agent.

    Upon returning to Maine, he obtained his Associate Broker’s License and connected with the David Banks Team in April 2011. He is a lively team member with a distinguishable laugh. He will work hard to help answer any questions you may have and places a high value on providing excellent customer service.

    When he is not working with the team, Kessler enjoys working on home improvement projects and spending time outdoors with his fiancé and Bernese Mountain Dog.
